Haymans Milton: A Complete Electrical Fit-Out Built for Performance

    • Home Projects Haymans Milton: A Complete Electrical Fit-Out Built for Performance

Overview

When Haymans Electrical set out to establish their Milton facility, the objective was clear: create a space that performs just as well as it presents.

This wasn’t just about installing storage. It was about delivering a complete, integrated fit-out that supports trade efficiency, product accessibility, and long-term scalability.

Working alongside the Haymans team, Storeplan delivered a two-stage fit-out solution, combining high-density storage, retail-ready trade areas, and seamless customer-facing spaces, all aligned with how the business operates day to day.

The result is a facility that balances warehouse performance with showroom presentation, underpinned by thoughtful planning and tailored execution.

The Challenge

Haymans Milton required more than standard racking. The project needed to solve several operational demands at once:

  • Accommodate a wide range of electrical products, from small components to bulky cable reels
  • Create a trade area that is both functional and customer-friendly
  • Maximise vertical space without compromising accessibility
  • Ensure consistent product visibility and organisation across hundreds of SKUs
  • Align the warehouse, trade counter, and showroom into one cohesive environment

This is typical of modern electrical wholesalers. The space needs to work just as hard for staff as it does for customers.

The Solution

Storeplan delivered a fully customised fit-out, designed around product type, movement, and usability.

  1. Custom Coloured Combi Shelving System
  • At the core of the project was a large-scale combination shelving system, tailored specifically for electrical products.
  • Bays reaching up to 5500mm high for maximum vertical utilisation
  • Mix of pegboard and mesh backing to support flexible storage and display
  • Integrated steel and mesh shelving levels for varying product weights
  • Dedicated zones with vertical dividers for cable, conduit, and long items
  • Inclusion of sliding display systems and glass door sections for accessibility and presentation
  • This system allowed Haymans to manage everything from small fittings to larger boxed stock within one consistent framework.
  1. Purpose-Built Product Zones
  • Each bay configuration was customised based on product type and usage frequency.
  • High-turnover items positioned for quick access
  • Bulkier products allocated to lower levels or specialised storage zones
  • Display-integrated sections to support trade sales interaction
  • With over 90+ bays configured differently, the layout reflects real operational needs, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
  1. Cable and Conduit Storage
  • A standout feature of the project is the integrated cable racking system.
  • Designed to safely store and dispense large cable reels
  • Supports organised handling of multiple cable types and sizes
  • Improves picking efficiency while reducing manual handling risks
  • This is critical in electrical environments where product format varies significantly.
  1. Custom Colour Integration
  • One of the defining visual elements of this project is the custom colour application.
  • Pantone 306 blue beams at ground and first shelf level
  • Black (RAL 9005) beams across upper levels
  • This creates a clear visual hierarchy:
  • Lower levels are high visibility and user-friendly
  • Upper levels maintain a clean, uniform industrial finish

The result is a space that is both functional and brand-aligned, reinforcing consistency across the environment.

    Key Results:

    • Increased storage capacity through vertical design and tailored bay configurations
    • Improved picking efficiency with clearly defined product zones

    • Stronger visual identity through custom colour integration
    • A facility that supports both current demand and future growth

    Why This Project Matters

This project reinforces a key shift in how businesses approach their spaces.

It is no longer about installing racking.

It is about designing environments that improve performance across the entire operation.

Haymans Milton is a strong example of what happens when:

    • Planning comes before product
    • Storage is aligned to workflow
    • Every element is considered as part of a complete system

    Thinking About Your Own Space?

If you are planning a new facility or upgrading an existing one, the question is not what products you need.

It is how your space needs to perform.

    That is where we start.
